MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Juventud Program fosters a sense of belonging for middle school-aged Latinx and Spanish-speaking youth and their families enrolled in the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), through co-created exploratory, cultural, and leadership activities, and field trips during the academic year and summer months.
HIGH SCHOOL
The Escalera Program leverages our long-standing partnership with UnidosUS centering dreams and opportunities for Latinx students in grades 9-12 in Dane County. The program uses a holistic approach that encourages parent involvement, healing ethno-racial trauma, and out-of-the-box field trips and hands-on internships and career exploration.
[Re]Generacion a leadership program founded in 2015 for Latinx high school students, this is the space where youth take action in Dane County. Centering social justice, cultural identity, volunteer engagement, and community organizing, [Re]Generacion strives for peer-led efforts as young people navigate high school and beyond.
COLLEGE
Since 2020 Avanzando has supported first-generation Latinx students as they transition from high school Centro youth programs to college in Wisconsin and across the country. The program works specifically on closing the achievement gap that exists between Latinx students and their peers through a holistic approach that supports a safe space for strengthens student mental health, discussing barriers and challenges, and encouraging belonging in higher education.
